The Druid Breakfast Club -

So, just WHAT is the Druid Breakfast Club? Originally it was begun as a way of meeting potential new members of Llygedyn Grove. By sharing breakfast in a public place, we felt that we were honoring the tenets of our faith with the sharing of a meal and the camaraderie of friends that feel more like kin than strangers.

Eventually, the close circle of pagan community heard about the get-togethers and did the "Me, too!" At the time, we were only "doing breakfast" to meet new folks; sometimes months would go by before we would schedule a breakfast. Like a lot of successful ventures, the breakfast get-togethers took on a life of their own and because of the limited venues we preferred, attendance became "invitation only."

Shortly after meeting with members of the Fort Hood Open Circle, the get-togethers became a monthly event, at the behest of the attendees. As everyone that attended was living on a budget, it was decided that the first Saturday of the month after the 15th would be the ideal time when there would be enough cash flow for as many folks as possible to attend. Then, as it always happens, the moniker "The Druid Breakfast Club" became attached to the monthly happenings (by the grace of our North Texas Druids) and the web page was eventually launched. Like everything else - we all have busy lives and a round "tuit" is a rare critter indeed!

We've attempted several venues, Mom's Café in Round Rock was the first place for our group to grace. Now we gather at The Bakehouse in South Austin as quite a few of our attendees live south of the River. Will we move it elsewhere? Only time will tell - besides we're having too much fun with the "Coffee Benediction" ritual chant and table thump. Despite the best attempts of others, we strive to keep the event politic-free, and "dogma-lite" keeping in mind that there are usually younglings around and we ARE trying to build community here.
